I am a fully qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist based near central Bristol. I have been working as a counsellor since 2003, I completed my psychotherapy training in 2005 and I have been a clinical member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) since 2006. I am located in the Whiteladies Road area of Bristol, on the borders of Clifton (BS8) and Redland (BS6).
I offer a constructive, grounded approach in a safe and confidential environment, with the aim of helping people to explore and gain clarity on various aspects of their lives, to resolve problems and to find new ways forward.
I work with people on a wide range of issues. These may be specific and definable such as problems with moods and emotions; difficulties in relationships; addictive and compulsive behaviours; obsessive thinking; problems of personality; coming to terms with change and loss; decisions and dilemmas etc. (For a full list of issues that I deal with, see below.)
People also bring problems that are more difficult to define - a sense of confusion about their lives and about who they are, a lack of direction, a loss of meaning or joy in living, difficulties in relating to others, or concerns about identity or sexuality.
In recent years, I have also begun to specialise in working with problematic sexual behaviours and preoccupations. I have undertaken training in sexual addictions and compulsivity and in working with those who may be at risk of crossing the line between legal and illegal sexual behaviours.
My endeavour is to work with each person who comes to see me in a way that respects who they are and their situation in life. I acknowledge that everyone who comes to counselling or therapy brings with them a unique set of circumstances, background, values and beliefs; and I endeavour to ensure that this sets the framework for the work we do together.
